PIERRE GASLY ON THE COVER OF ESSES ISSUE 05

JAN 21, 2026

There is a version of Pierre Gasly that exists outside of Formula 1 — and Esses Magazine made it the centrepiece of their fifth issue.

The independent motorsport and lifestyle publication tapped the Alpine driver for its Issue 05 cover story, pairing a round of golf in Austin, Texas with a shoot at G2 Studio in Milan — Lacoste looks, a putter, and the 2020 Italian Grand Prix trophy all in frame. Writer Alex Kirshner spent the day on the course with Gasly before the studio session, tracing the contours of a life lived at high speed but with a quiet awareness of what grounds him.

"F1 life is all about speed," Gasly tells Esses. "Everything is timed at the minute. Very tight schedule." And yet, on the golf course, something shifts. "I just feel quite free on the course." That contrast — precision under pressure versus the particular freedom of 18 holes — sits at the heart of a profile that moves well beyond the paddock.

Gasly is one of a small number of Formula 1 drivers who have genuinely taken to golf, and the sport has become something of a meaningful counterweight to the relentless rhythm of the racing calendar. The shoot, built around that intersection, captures an athlete at ease with who he is both on and off the track.

Issue 05 of Esses arrives in mid-February, framing Gasly's cover as an entry point into a broader conversation about new regulations, new possibilities, and the personalities shaping the next chapter of Formula 1.
